The sheer amount of these pointless appointments I’ve been in, or heard about secondhand.
And god forbid the animal is actually ill. For example:
“So how long hasn’t she been eating?”
“Oh, er, I don’t know. She’s more my wife’s dog. She’s just really worried but couldn’t make the appointment.”
“Is she neutered?”
“Uh I don’t know about any of that stuff.”
PLEASE.

Please please communicate with the friend or family member bringing YOUR pet in what the appointment is for, ESPECIALLY IF YOU KNOW YOU WON’T BE AVAILABLE TO SPEAK WITH THE VET ON THE PHONE AT THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT.
If you can't make your pet’s appointment and have a family member or friend bring them instead, please WRITE/TYPE A LIST of what you want done at the appointment or if your pet is SICK WRITE DOWN ANY ABNORMALITIES YOU HAVE SEEN AND HOW LONG IT’S BEEN GOING ON. Have the family member or friend bring it with them to the appointment. This can help limit miscommunications and is extremely helpful to the vet and staff working with your animal.
Good advice for most situations, but also
Marry someone who isn't a clueless asshole and who takes an interest in the family pet instead of saying "oh I guess that's your problem idk 🤷♂️" when it comes to the health of an animal that needs human intervention to stay healthy.
The number of times I’ve had an owner call confused/upset because something wasn’t done or wasn’t addressed because their husband didn’t know what tf was going on is ridiculous. I don’t know how these dudes can live with an animal sometimes for over a decade and legitimately can’t even say how often the dog is fed.
Bruh. The second time my budgie was eggbound I'm at the emergency vet with my partner (who wasn't even living with me & the birds at that point) and I'm struggling to hold it together and go step-by-step through everything and he handles stress differently than I do.
So while I'm floundering to find Percy's records in my phone my partner is just running through "this is her 14th egg, she stopped the hormone injections in January, she laid her last egg 3 days ago"
I could not imagine being in a relationship with someone who can't take care of the kids, let alone *marrying* them.

Seize the Day was a calendar program made by in 1994 by Buena Vista software. It features graphics that at the time, were revolutionary because of the way they handled color cycling. These images were static bitmaps, but by changing color values, they appear animated. What is also impressive about these images is that they had full day night cycles built in, rendered also through color cycling.
A few years ago, a html5 version was made. A copy was uncovered online and there is a way to use the program through DOSbox. As well, one of the original programmers for the project, Iam Gilman, has thought of the idea of remaking it, open sourced, for modern machines.
